History
| The town of Lemberg is situated between Fort Qu’Appelle and
Melville. It was incorporated into a village in 1905 and as a
town, two years later. It received its name after a city in
Poland, the country from which many of the first settlers came.
Originally settled by German-speaking settlers, Lemberg quickly
became home to a variety of settlers.
The Ukrainians, Poles & Germans that immigrated to Lemberg Sask.
would have come from the Volhynia area of Russia and Galicia area
of Austria, all which is now the Ukraine.

Tourism
Lemberg is a progressive little community tucked away on Highway 22, a leisurely drive from the hustle and bustle of city life in Regina or Yorkton. There is something to do in every season in
Lemberg. In spring, Culture Shock provides area residents with adult drama written and produced by local residents - a must to see and/or participate in. Another event is the annual
Agri-Dinner in the spring hosted by the Rink Board. This is always guaranteed to be a hit with excellent local and international entertainment.
In summer and fall, Lemberg has much to offer from a neat campground and picnic facility for weary travelers, to trails and coulees that house a variety of birds and native wildlife for outdoors types. Lemberg also has a fly-in breakfast that is held the first Saturday in August.
The area is also famous as a nesting ground for waterfowl, attracting naturalists and hunters form across the province and the United States.
There are also many unique buildings to be explored in the area. Old churches, towns and farms in this area are a haven for historians.

Motherwell Homestead
Located approximately 15 minutes away from Lemberg, this national historic site has been restored to the 1910-1914 period beauty. Open in early May through October, this picturesque tourist attraction includes
an available tour through an Ontario style barn and masterful two story home. The visitor reception area includes drawings, photographs and old-style text. Also, the book and food shop serves old-fashioned foods such as strawberries or rhubarb with ice cream, crumb cake, sandwiches and lemonade. In July and August, the Homestead hosts a 2-day summer camp that children learn about the found WR
Motherwell, historic agriculture techniques and the skills needed to survive during the settlement period. In addition, August is busy with days to demonstrate some farm practices of the past: binding, stooking and threshing.
