History

Neudorf is located on Highway 22, just minutes north of the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley. It was officially recognized in 1895 with the opening of the post office.

In 1904 the Canadian Pacific Railroad came to Neudorf and played a major part in its growth, making it a major turn around point on the line.

In 1905, it became incorporated as a village. Ludwig L. Wendel donated the land for the village site on the condition that it is named Neudorf, after his hometown in Austria.

A drive in and around Neudorf area will take you to many historic sites: Zion Lutheran Church, Mariahilf Church and Duck Point School. Many other buildings down Main Street still show the history of our village.

The community of 304 provides a cozy gateway to one of Saskatchewan’s prime vacation spots, the Qu’Appelle Valley.

It extends a warm friendly welcome to all visitors and hopes that everyone has a great time when they visit.

Recreation

During the summer months the Neudorf Golf Course attracts golfers from far and wide. The nine-hole, par 34 and sand green golf course is well maintained and highly recommended. The club hosts an open tournament each June.

Neudorf also boasts six ball diamonds with two of those being official, regulation size, fenced diamonds. Last year more than 60 teams played in the annual sports day. This year’s event will be held in mid-June.

There’s also a lot to do in the winter. You can glide through the snow on cross-country ski trails cut through pastureland south of the school. A curling and skating rink also provides a lot in the way of entertainment and recreation for residents.

In addition, the village hosts an annual snowmobile derby, with the proceeds going towards a worthy charity.
